About ICD Group
History

Our History

ICD Group was founded in 1989 by a small group of independent merchants who recognised the value of collaboration. While each business operated independently, they shared a common commitment to technical excellence, stewardship, and supporting New Zealand farmers and growers through trusted agronomic advice.

The Group was established to strengthen supplier relationships, encourage knowledge sharing, and create opportunities that would benefit members and their customers alike. The principles on which ICD was founded, including collaboration, trust, leadership, stewardship, and innovation, continue to guide the organisation today.

Over time, membership has evolved and expanded, while remaining firmly committed to the founding vision of independent businesses working together for mutual success. Membership continues to grow, and today ICD is recognised as one of New Zealand's leading networks of independent agricultural and horticultural merchants.

A significant milestone in ICD's development was the establishment of formal relationships with the AgLink network, culminating in ICD becoming a shareholder of AgLink International in 2026. This connection extends ICD's reach beyond New Zealand, providing members and suppliers with access to international knowledge, innovation, professional networks, and collaborative opportunities.
